Morris Crushes 3 Homers Against Rocket City Monday, July 8th , 2041 Tennessee Smokies right fielder Chris Morris put on a dazzling display of power today at Smokies Park against the Rocket City Trash Pandas. In the 13-2 Smokies victory Morris penned his name into the record books, slamming a trio of home runs in one of baseball's finest single-day efforts. "He can hit them out anywhere, right, center, left, it doesn't matter," Rocket City manager said. "He's super strong and stays on the ball so well." Along with his three home runs, the 25-year-old had 4 hits in 4 at-bats, 7 RBIs and 4 runs scored. "Life will always throw you curves, just keep fouling them off," Morris said after the game, when asked about his hitting philosophy. "The right pitch will come, and when it does, be prepared to run the bases. Or trot around them, like I did today." Chris Morris hit a two-run single in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off Tony Córdova in the 3rd, hit a three-run home run off Esteban Sierra in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Baltwin Israel in the 6th and walked in the 8th. Morris is presently batting .252 with 24 home runs, 51 runs scored and 54 RBIs. His OBP is .344. |
