Cooper Tags Drive for 5 Hits Saturday, September 3rd, 2033 Derek Cooper was at the head of a Lexington hit parade today at Fluor Field at the West End. The catcher went to the plate 5 times and came away with 5 hits, sparking the Legends to a 26-3 victory over the Greenville Drive. "I told the guys in the dugout, just be thinking about hitting the ball hard somewhere," the sweet-swinging Cooper told reporters after the game. "Seems like it worked out well for us today." Drive skipper said later that the club gave up "too much plate." "Not the way we planned it," he said. "Every hitter in the league will rip you when you do that." Derek Cooper hit an RBI single in the 2nd, walked in a run in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, doubled in the 6th, singled in the 8th and walked in the 9th. This season Cooper has banged out 62 hits in 250 at-bats for a .248 average with 7 home runs. He is getting on base at a .430 pace and his totals also include 47 RBIs and 56 runs scored.
