Fayetteville-Delmarva Brawl, Méndez and Rodríguez Suspended Wednesday, April 23rd , 2042 Yesterday at Ballpark of Arlington António Méndez and Juan Rodríguez got into each other's space and then into each other's face. They began to grapple and fell to the ground. That's when it boiled over into a full-fledged bench-clearing tussle between the Fayetteville Woodpeckers and Delmarva Shorebirds. Reason finally prevailed as the umpires restored order. After much discussion, only the two major combatants were ejected from the game. Today the league office notified the ballclubs that Méndez will have to sit out 3 while Rodríguez would be given a 6-game suspension for their roles in the brawl. In this current campaign Méndez is hitting at a .235 clip with 1 home run and 5 RBIs. |
