League KO's Grasshoppers-Tourists Players with 4-Game Suspensions Wednesday, September 11th , 2041 António Páez of the Greensboro Grasshoppers was not happy with Víctor Cruz, and his frustration showed when he went after the Asheville player during yesterday's game at NewBridge Bank Park. Both benches cleared as they rushed to the aid of their teammates. Order was soon restored as Páez and Cruz were pulled away from each other. They were ejected from the game. Both players were suspended 4 games by the league office as a result of their tussle. "It's something that happens in baseball every once in a while," Páez commented later. "We get frustrated with another player and sometimes things go too far. We'll both take our suspensions and then come back ready to play. I got no hard feelings." Currently Páez has 25 home runs and a .256 batting average. On the year Cruz has worked 78.1 innings with 116 strikeouts en route to a 3-5 record and 5.17 ERA. |
