League Suspends Rome CF Gibson Wednesday, July 17th , 2041 For his part in an altercation with an umpire over a third strike, Rome Braves center fielder Charlie Gibson will have to sit out 4 games. The league commissioner's office today notified the Braves that Gibson had been suspended for his poor conduct during the Crawdads game yesterday at State Mutual Stadium. After being ejected, Gibson turned and walked toward the dugout, but then turned around, began yelling at the umpire and kicked dirt on home plate. The league said this type of behavior is not acceptable and will be dealt with according to league disciplinary policies. So far this season Gibson has gotten 41 hits in 167 at-bats for a .246 batting average with 4 home runs. His stats include 18 RBIs and 23 runs scored. He has played in 47 games. |
