Julián Bernal of the Black Bears humbled hitters all season long and today celebrated as he hauled in the New York-Penn League Pitcher of the Year trophy, the coveted Outstanding Pitcher Award.

The West Virginia hurler held opposing hitters to a .136 batting average while putting up a 5-2 record and a 2.16 earned run average. He started 18 games, pitched 87.1 innings and struck out 173.

He received 9 first place votes out of a possible 14. José Flores of the Hudson Valley Renegades finished second in voting with 4 first place votes, while Jorge López of the West Virginia Black Bears finished third with 1 first place vote.
