Gonzáles Touches All the Bases, Hits for Cycle
Friday, April 25th , 2042
Cristián Gonzáles did everything he could for the Wilmington Blue Rocks today -- literally.

The 23-year-old shortstop hit a single, a double, a triple and a home run for the Blue Rocks, going for the cycle and helping them get past the Brooklyn Cyclones, 7-5, at Daniel S. Frawley Stadium.

"Yeah, I was some kind of hitter in this game," Gonzáles reflected later. "It was like all I had to do was close my eyes and swing the bat."

In a game headed for the record books, Gonzáles banged out 4 hits in 5 at-bats and totaled 1 RBI and 3 runs scored. Speaking with the press about the feat, he attributed it to "a lot of luck."

"A triple is so hard to hit," he said. "To just decide to get one in a game when you need it for a cycle, it's impossible. Usually something weird has to happen, the ball kicking past an outfielder or somebody falling down. There's a ton of luck in hitting for a cycle."

Cristián Gonzáles tripled in the 2nd, doubled in the 4th, singled in the 6th, hit a solo-shot off Jim Unknown in the 7th and flied out in the 8th.

To date this year Gonzáles is batting .800 with 1 home run.
