Martínez Whacks 3 out of the Park for ACL Pittsburgh Monday, July 8th , 2041 Today was a special one for Pepe Martínez of the ACL Pittsburgh Pirates as he slammed three home runs in the 15-4 win over the ACL Los Angeles (N) Dodgers. "Lately, I've been uppercutting the ball too much," he said to sportswriters after the game. "I would hit it hard, but they just went sky high and stayed in the ballpark. No big long outs for me in this game. I leveled out my swing and connected on the sweet spot. I knew they were gone the minute I hit 'em." The ACL Pittsburgh second baseman collected 3 hits in 3 at-bats, drove in 6, and scored 5 runs in the contest at Holman Stadium. Pepe Martínez hit a three-run home run off Tommy McCoy in the 1st, walked in the 2nd, hit a two-run home run off Ángelo Carranza in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Bob O'Mackey in the 5th and walked in the 8th. To date Martínez has chalked up a .500 average with 8 home runs, driven in 16 runs and scored 13 times. |
