3-HR Binge for Martínez Against DSL Kansas City Sunday, May 18th , 2042 It was a day for the record books for DSL Seattle Mariners left fielder Héctor Martínez, who walloped three out of Kansas City Royals Complex against the Royals. However, not even a three-homer game could prevent the Royals from taking the 13-9 victory. "We threw some good pitches and they hit 'em, and we made some bad pitches and they hit 'em. That's a good strategy for losing ballgames," DSL Seattle skipper joked after the loss. Martínez still had a few opportunities to celebrate along the way. He was 3-for-5 for the day, batting in 5 runs and scoring 3 times. "I never, ever thought I would hit three home runs," Martínez said. "I hit three home runs once when I was 12 in Little League and I thought that was going to be the last time." Héctor Martínez hit a two-run home run off Chuck Spoon in the 1st, flied out in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Héctor Sandoval in the 5th, walked in the 6th, hit a two-run home run off Virgil Cook in the 8th and struck out in the 9th. For the year Martínez is hitting .405 with 18 home runs. His stats include 45 runs batted in and 33 runs scored. |
