Avilés Slams 3 Deep for DSL San Francisco Friday, August 30th , 2041 José Avilés went on an explosive hitting spree against the DSL New York (A) Yankees at Rawling Foundation Complex today, launching a trio of blasts to lead the DSL San Francisco Giants to the 7-3 win. The first baseman finished 3-for-4 with 3 runs scored and 4 runs batted in. "It was just one of those days," Avilés said in a postgame interview. "I don't know how to explain it. I'm just putting a good swing on the ball." DSL New York (A) skipper said Avilés was "locked-in." "We made some pretty good pitches," he said. "Those first two homers were exactly where the pitcher wanted to put them. He's just hot right now -- you've just got to tip your hat to him." José Avilés hit a solo-shot off Bob Elder in the 2nd, hit a two-run home run off Bob Elder in the 3rd, struck out in the 6th and hit a solo-shot off Dan Kelly in the 8th. In 123 games Avilés is hitting .228 this season with 76 hits, 36 home runs, 91 RBIs, 78 walks, .410 OBP and has scored 85 runs. |
