3 Boomers for Velázquez Saturday, September 14th , 2041 José Velázquez went on a hitting rampage at Las Américas Complex today and got membership in the select club of hitters who have hit three home runs in a game. He walloped three into the stands to pace the Cubs to a 14-4 victory over the DSL Washington Nationals. The DSL Chicago (N) center fielder collected 4 hits in 7 at-bats, drove in 6 and scored 4 runs. "I don't know, you never know when things are going to fall into place," he told the press after his big game. "Today, I didn't have any special insight or adjustment, I just happened to get three pitches I was ready for." José Velázquez hit a solo-shot off Jon Cameron in the 1st, struck out in the 3rd, hit a two-run home run off Jon Cameron in the 5th, struck out in the 8th, grounded out in the 10th, hit an RBI single in the 13th and hit a two-run home run off Jim Unknown in the 13th. To date, Velázquez has collected 81 hits for a .201 average. He has posted 19 home runs, scored 49 runs and driven in 45 runs. |
