Stafford Whiffs 17, DSL Northeast (PIT2) Tops DSL Northwest (HOU) Sunday, August 21st, 2033 Everything was working for Jeff Stafford today at Pittsburgh Pirates Complex. He had the perfect delivery. The ball was moving. The changeup was working. In an unforgettable performance, the 23-year-old Stafford fanned 17 Astros and sparked the DSL Northeast (PIT2) Pirates 2 to a 10-0 victory over DSL Northwest (HOU). He left Astros hitters mumbling and muttering at the plate. And when he needed a strikeout, he got it. "I don't know if there are many times that I've seen him throw better," said DSL Northeast (PIT2) manager . "His location and command were really something." In addition to collecting 17 strikeouts over 8.2 innings, Stafford allowed 1 hit and 1 walk in a superlative outing. "I thought I'd make it easy on the guys today," Stafford said with a smile.
