Wednesday, August 28th, 2024
The New York (A) Yankees were almost helpless today in their 2-0 loss to the Texas Rangers and hurler Robby Flowers. Flowers kept the Yankees confused all game, spinning a 5-hit shutout.
"Tip your hat to Flowers," New York (A) manager said in his postgame interview. "He kept us off balance all night."
The 27-year-old right-hander had no walks and 13 strikeouts in a strong performance.
"It just happened to be one of those games where even when I made mistakes, they either fouled them off or someone would make a fine defensive play," Flowers said. "It was just one of those games that things went my way."
His record this year is 18-2 in 27 starts and Flowers has a 2.55 ERA.
