Spence Struts Stuff in Win Over Arizona
Saturday, June 14th , 2036
The Arizona Diamondbacks were almost helpless today in their 7-0 loss to the Atlanta Braves and hurler Bruno Spence. Spence kept the Diamondbacks confused all game, spinning a 3-hit shutout.
"Tip your hat to Spence," Arizona manager Ryan Hetzer said in a postgame interview. "He kept us off balance all night."
The 27-year-old right-hander had 1 walk and 7 strikeouts in a strong performance.
"It just happened to be one of those games where even when I made mistakes, they either fouled them off or someone would make a fine defensive play," Spence said. "It was just one of those games that things went my way."
Up to now Spence has recorded a record of 7-5. In 14 starts he has fanned 55 batters in 92.1 innings with a 3.70 ERA.
