Red-Hot Bat: Johnston Collects Cycle
Friday, June 8th, 2029
At AT&T Park today, J.R. Johnston led San Francisco to a 11-5 victory over the Washington Nationals by hitting for the cycle, one of baseball's more difficult feats.
"Usually the triple is the hardest one to get, but I was most worried about the homer today because the ball wasn't carrying," Johnston said later. "When I took it deep, I was expecting the ball to die on the warning track, so it was sweet seeing the ump give me the signal to circle the bases."
In addition to going 4-for-5, Johnston chalked up 3 runs batted in and scored 3 runs in an exceptional performance.
J.R. Johnston hit an RBI single in the 1st, doubled in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off Alfredo Baltaro in the 4th, hit an RBI triple in the 5th and struck out in the 7th.
In 61 games this year Johnston has posted a .269 average and put up these numbers: 11 home runs, 32 RBIs and 35 runs scored.
