Padres Hammered by Hoerner, Drop Game 1 to Cubs
The Chicago Cubs took the first game of the League Championship Series in dramatic fashion today, topping the San Diego Padres 6-5 in an extra-inning walk-off win. Cubs second baseman Nico Hoerner was 4 for 5 with 2 home runs and 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice.

Chicago won the game in the bottom of the tenth inning. With no outs and Taylor Rogers on the mound for San Diego, third baseman Patrick Wisdom hit a dramatic solo home run, bringing Cubs fans to their feet.

"We'll relax tonight and enjoy this win," said Hoerner.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Wrigley Field in Chicago.
