The St. Louis Cardinals got a magnificent performance from pitcher Sandy Gaston, who stifled the Miami offense en route to a 2-0 Cardinals win at loanDepot Park. Gaston, the winner, moves to 6-8. He threw 5 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 4 and giving up 3 walks. The Marlins have now dropped 5 straight.

St. Louis used a well-timed hit by Carlos Carmona to capture the win. The center fielder socked a 2-run double in the top of the second inning to put the Cardinals ahead, 2-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
