Guardians Saddle Tigers with 6-4 Loss
|
Lars Nootbaar did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Detroit Tigers from losing, 6-4, to the Cleveland Guardians at Progressive Field. Nootbaar went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Zach Eflin went 5 innings for Cleveland to pick up the win. The right-hander was charged with 4 runs. He scattered 8 hits, while walking 0 and striking out 5. His record improves to 10-11. Chris Buzzard, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 37th save.
Jhonkensy Noel contributed to the Cleveland win with a 2-run home run in the bottom of the fifth. For the game, the first baseman had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 2 RBI.
"I'm just trying to make good contact," said Noel, "one at-bat at a time."
The Guardians go to 55-82 with the win.
