Red Sox Topple Rays with Late Rally
The Tampa Bay Rays could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Luis Patiño into a win. Instead, the Boston Red Sox prevailed, 8-5. Patiño threw 7.0 innings of 3-hit ball. Isaiah Jackson picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 2-0. Charlie Froderman suffered the loss. With the victory, the Red Sox record stands at 75-77.

Boston used the timely hitting of Keibert Ruiz to seize the win. The catcher stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Red Sox on top, 6-5. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"We took advantage of our opportunities," Ruiz told the Boston Observer. "It's as simple as that."
