Garrettson No-Hits Storm
New Mexico Suns starter Gary Garrettson said he was standing behind the mound when the scoreboard caught his eye, confirming what he already knew: He was one out from a no-hitter. For a couple of seconds, he didn't move.

"I took a breath and told myself 'This is the last one,'" Garrettson recalled.

The right-hander collected himself, got the final out, and finished one of the greatest performances of his career.

The New Mexico right-hander no-hit the San Juan Storm, 5-0, at Ambetter Field, finishing with 1 walks and 5 strikeouts, facing only 27 batters.

"I knew for a while it was a no-hitter," Garrettson admitted later. "But I really didn't worry about it until the last out. I thought I just wanted to win the game, and then I realized I wanted the no-hitter, too."

Thus far this season, Garrettson has posted a 6-11 record, started 25 games, struck out 167 batters in 153 innings and compiled a 3.59 ERA.
