Newbury Helps Colonials Beat Storm, 5-1
|
Boston right fielder Dan Newbury had 4 ribbies while helping his team defeat the San Juan Storm, 5-1. Carlos Salazar earned the win for Boston. He lasted 5 innings, allowing no runs on 2 hits, while striking out 9. With the win, he raised his record to 9-11. The Colonials now have a mark of 60-67.
Boston took a 2-0 lead on Newbury's 18th home run of the season. The solo home run, which he hit off Domenic Appleby in the bottom of the sixth, propelled Boston to the win.
Newbury told a Boston Citizen reporter that he was "more than satisfied" with the win.
