Salt Lake beat New Orleans on the strength of starter Kalume Mwapacha's fine effort. The left-hander led his team to a win, 1-0. Mwapacha, the winner, moves to 10-8. He threw 5.2 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 3 and giving up 2 walks. Salt Lake is now 87-60, 11 games up in the Federal League Western Division.
Noël Cardinale drove in one run for Salt Lake. The two-time All-Star had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With one out and a runner on 3rd, he broke a 0-0 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Mauro Herrera. It was his 28th RBI of the season.
"Not too many highlights on our side," said losing manager Mike Greenwood.
