Colonials Roll Over Expos, 9-1
|
Boston and Montreal got after it at Labatt Blue Light Stadium.
The Boston Colonials handed the Montreal Expos a loss at Labatt Blue Light Stadium. The final score was 9-1. Guillermo Estrada was one of the major contributors for Boston. In addition to his 1 single and 1 home run, he scored 1 run and drove in 4. The winner in relief was Ching-hsia Ning. The left-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 1.1 innings. He now owns a record of 4-1.
With Boston leading 6-1 in the top of the ninth, Estrada came up to bat against Montreal pitcher Shotaro Kokawa. Estrada hit a changeup to left for a 3-run home run. His 7th home run of the season put the Colonials on top, 9-1.
"We played hard and won," said Estrada. "Sometimes, baseball really is that easy.'
Boston raised its record to 91-60 with the win.
