Mullett Slugs Colonials to 6-5 Win
|
Boston and Washington duked it out and the Colonials came out victorious.
The performance of Tom Mullett proved critical in helping Boston beat Washington, 6-5. The Colonials first baseman went 4-5 with 2 home runs and 2 singles, while scoring 3 times and driving in 3. Boston reliever Edward Rosscup picked up the win to move to 4-3. Jason Woolridge suffered the loss. Picking up the save was Marcos Rivera. He's now 20 for 24 in save chances.
Zhen-bang Kuo, the 23-year old shortstop , had a direct impact on the outcome. Kuo contributed a run-scoring ground out in the top of the third inning to put Boston up, 3-1.
Mullett said afterward that his team has grown over the course of the season, adding: "It feels good when a plan comes together."
The Colonials have an impressive 97-61 record.
