Almost There: Vancouver On Cusp of LC Triumph After 5-3 Win
|
The Vancouver Veterans went into extra innings against the New Mexico Suns but ultimately moved to within one game of the Union Cup today. The Veterans downed the Suns at Ambetter Field by a score of 5-3. Vancouver right-hander Gerardo Oliveira had a solid outing. He threw 5.0 innings of 2-hit ball. The win gives the Veterans a 3-1 advantage in the best-of-7 League Cup.
Vancouver needed the clutch hitting of Seranthony Mora to notch the win. The left fielder hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the tenth inning to put the Veterans on top, 5-3. For the game, Mora had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
Oliveira called the win "a lesson in teamwork."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Ambetter Field in Albuquerque.
