Saints Need Extras to Top Bees, Lead 1-0 in Series

Leave it to the veteran.
The St. Paul Saints got a great start from 36-year-old left-hander Gail Kuchi, as St. Paul won the contest, 4-2, at Beehive Field at Delta Airlines Stadium. Kuchi threw 8.0 innings of 6-hit ball in the win, which allowed the St. Paul to grab a 1-0 lead in the best-of-9 series.
St. Paul used the timely hitting of Esteban Cruz to seize the win. The first baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Saints on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"It was terrific getting this win," Cruz said. "We put in a lot of work to do it."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Beehive Field at Delta Airlines Stadium in Salt Lake City.
