VooDoo Walk It Off for 12th Win of Season
|
The New Orleans VooDoo beat the New York Giants by a score of 6-5. New Orleans designated hitter Álex Soto deserved the lion's share of the credit. Soto was 2 for 5 with a home run, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2 for the VooDoo. Mal Leach picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 2-0. Javier García suffered the loss. The loss drops the Giants to 13-10.
The game was decided with one out in the bottom of the ninth. With New Orleans trailing 5-4, Soto jumped on a fastball from former first round draft pick Javier García and hit a 2-run home run to left-center. With one swing, the VooDoo had a walk-off win.
"We scored enough runs to win," said Soto.
