Dogs Win, Doby 4-for-5
|
The Chicago Dogs powered past the San Jose Jedi, 9-3, at Vienna Beef Park. Darren Doby provided some of the pop. He went 4-5 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles, while scoring 3 times and driving in 3. Steve Yarwood, the winner, goes to 7-7. He allowed no runs on 2 hits, with 3 walks and 5 strikeouts over 6 innings. The win for the Dogs raised their record to 56-45.
Luis Mata had a big 2-run home run for the Dogs in the bottom of the third inning. With Chicago leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a cutter from Vicente Rocha, who signed a 2-year contract worth $11,000,000 on 01/13/2051, and punished it. The result was his 15th home run of the season, which put the Dogs on top, 3-0.
"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Doby.
