VooDoo Clip Dogs, 5-4
|
The New Orleans VooDoo did just enough to nip the Chicago Dogs, 5-4, in 16 innings. New Orleans second baseman Cory Brooks, in particular, had a standout performance. Pedro von Lindenthal closed it out for New Orleans, earning his 8th save. The first-place VooDoo, at 67-41, now lead their division by 7½ games.
New Orleans needed the clutch hitting of Álex Soto to seal the deal. The designated hitter swatted a solo home run in the top of the 16th inning to put the VooDoo on top, 5-4. For the game, Soto had 1 home run and 1 single in 7 at-bats.
In postgame comments, Brooks said, "I think we gave the fans their money's worth."
