Suns Pull Out Late-Game Win, 2-1
New Mexico Suns starter Gary Garrettson turned in a sterling performance against the Charlotte Eagles, leading his team to a slim, 2-1 win. Reliever Ivano Baldaev picked up the win. His record improves to 3-7. Gordon Vargas took the loss. Robert Brown got the save, his 20th in 24 chances.

New Mexico used the timely hitting of Harry Bennerman to seize the win. The first baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Suns on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"Runs were at a premium," said New Mexico manager Nacho Cheese.

The losses continue to mount for Charlotte, which has now dropped 6 in a row.
