Parker 5-for-7 Against Monterrey
|
Birmingham right fielder Dave Parker had a big day at Superiors Stadium today against the Monterrey Sultanes. The 37-year-old, who is not typically considered a big threat with the bat, went 5-for-7 and led the Vulcans to a 7-6 triumph over Monterrey.
"Hey, I'm as surprised as you guys are," Parker said in his postgame comments, smiling as he scolded the press corps for underestimating him. "Maybe I'm not so bad at the plate after all."
Dave Parker singled in the 1st, singled in the 4th, struck out in the 5th, singled in the 8th, singled in the 9th, grounded out in the 10th and singled in the 13th.
This season Parker has 4 home runs and a .354 batting average.
