5-Hit Game for Lovullo
|
It doesn't happen very often, but it did for Torey Lovullo today -- a 5-hit effort. He went on a rampage at Ballpark of Checotah and paced the Assassins to a 9-0 win over the Memphis Chicks.
After his dynamite batting performance, the Ottawa second baseman told reporters that he "just tried to get in a good count and have a good at-bat. That's all I can control."
His philosophy paid dividends today. He slammed 5 hits in 5 tries and put his name in the record book. Torey Lovullo hit a two-run home run off Paul Abbott in the 1st, doubled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit a two-run single in the 6th and singled in the 8th.
This year Lovullo is batting .306 with 98 hits and 7 home runs. He has scored 42 times and has batted in 34 runs.
