Blizzards Clinch Wild Card Saturday, August 11th , 1990 The B.C. Blizzards clubhouse was filled with loud music and revelry late into the night, as the team celebrated a International League wild card position. The team, whose record stands at 70-49, battled throughout the year, but ultimately saw the quest for the playoffs come down to the season's final games. "I'd be lying if I said we knew we were going to make it," said center fielder Cecil Espy. "We did have confidence, but in the back of your mind you always wonder what's going to happen. There were some good teams pushing us." Now the Blizzards don't have to worry, as they are in position to potentially win the 2nd International League championship in franchise history. |
