Tuesday, May 18th , 2004
Carlos Cruz was smoking all game at the plate, but couldn't finish his day with a victory cigar.

After the 19-year-old GCL Twins right fielder tallied 5 hits in 9 at-bats, he was forced to watch as his club dropped the 12-11 decision to the GCL Rangers.

"That was no fun," Cruz said to reporters after the game. "You hate to lose any game but it's even worse somehow to feel like you did enough to win."

Carlos Cruz grounded out in the 2nd, struck out in the 3rd, walked in the 5th, singled in the 7th, hit a three-run home run off Jordan Sanchez in the 8th, singled in the 10th, flied out in the 12th, singled in the 14th, grounded out in the 16th, singled in the 18th, flied out in the 21st and grounded out in the 23rd.

For the season, Cruz has produced 41 hits in 143 at-bats for a .287 average with 3 home runs and gotten on base at a .327 clip.
