Bachateros Upend Narwhals, 6-4
|
The Santo Domingo Bachateros topped the Reykjavik Narwhals, 6-4, with youngster Sam Read playing a key role. Read went 3-5 with 2 home runs for the Bachateros in the win. Osman Jafri, the winner, goes to 3-0. He allowed 3 runs on 6 hits, with 5 walks and no strikeouts over 6.2 innings. Mulatu Adegoke closed the game out for Santo Domingo, earning his 3rd save.
In the bottom of the ninth, Habte Sahnine stood in the box, looking for a pitch to hammer. The Narwhals were trailing 6-4, but had runners on 1st and 3rd. That's when Mulatu Adegoke made a terrific pitch and Sahnine grounded out. Gone was the dream of a Reykjavik comeback.
The Bachateros, now 16-2, have had a terrific start to the season.
