Santo Domingo Hurler Wins CWL Most Valuable Player Award Thursday, February 13th , 2025
When you have the type of year Paul Skenes did, it's no surprise when you get named the recipient of the Most Valuable Player Award.
The 22-year-old captured the award for the Caribbean Winter League today after a year in which the Santo Domingo Capitals pitcher excelled.
In 10 starts he piled up 64.2 innings, had 56 strikeouts with 16 walks and a 1.81 ERA. Skenes held opposing hitters to a .197 batting average and compiled a 1.6 WAR along the way.

The Santo Domingo Capitals have a rising superstar or maybe even a budding Hall-of-Famer in the making. It's Paul Skenes, this year's Caribbean Winter League Best Pitcher selection. This blossoming hurler wowed fans, peers and sportswriters with a fabulous performance.
Skenes compiled a 6-4 record in 10 starts, tallied 56 strikeouts in 64.2 innings and recorded a 1.81 ERA. Other clubs managed only a .197 batting average against him.
