Workman Torches Rockies for 5 Hits
Friday, December 31st , 2021
A jubilant Gage Workman joined the postgame press conference at Scottsdale Stadium today to offer some unusual words of encouragement -- for the Colorado (RDL) Rockies pitching staff he had just vanquished.

"It may not have looked like it," said the St Louis (RDL) Cardinals third baseman, "but I saw some awful good pitches today. If luck hadn't been on my side it might have turned out a lot different."

That would not have been the conclusion of anyone who saw his dominant 5-for-7 hitting performance, which led the Cardinals to a 11-6 win.

"He made it look easy," said Joel Hinds, manager of the Rockies. "We never figured out what to do with him. Obviously."

Gage Workman singled in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Skyler Henderson in the 4th, singled in the 5th, flied out in the 7th, struck out in the 9th, singled in the 12th and hit an RBI single in the 12th.

Thus far this season in 15 games Workman is batting .306 with 3 home runs, 6 RBIs and 10 runs scored. He has 15 hits in 49 at-bats.
