Devers Socks It to Chicago (W) 3 Times Tuesday, August 23rd , 2022 Los Angeles (A) Angels third baseman Rafael Devers put on a dazzling display of power today at Guaranteed Rate Field against the Chicago (W) White Sox. In the 13-1 Angels victory Devers penned his name into the record books, slamming a trio of home runs in one of baseball's finest single-day efforts. "He can hit them out anywhere, right, center, left, it doesn't matter," Chicago (W) manager Kris Motta said. "He's super strong and stays on the ball so well." Along with his three home runs, the 25-year-old had 3 hits in 3 at-bats, 5 RBIs and 4 runs scored. "Life will always throw you curves, just keep fouling them off," Devers said after the game, when asked about his hitting philosophy. "The right pitch will come, and when it does, be prepared to run the bases. Or trot around them, like I did today." Rafael Devers hit a three-run home run off Enoli Paredes in the 1st, walked in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off Kyle Wright in the 4th, walked in the 6th, hit a solo-shot off Kyle Wright in the 8th and walked in the 9th. This year Devers has socked 102 hits in 437 at-bats for a .233 average with 34 home runs. He is getting on base at a .314 pace and his totals also include 85 RBIs and 72 runs scored. |
