Pie Strokes 5 Hits

Alejandro Pie really sizzled at the plate in today's 29-10 win over Astros. The Los Angeles A (AZL) shortstop blistered Houston (AZL) for 5 hits in 7 at-bats.
"Pie was too tough to get out today," the Astros skipper said in the postgame interview. "No matter what we threw him, he hit it. And he hit some good pitches, too."
Alejandro Pie tripled in the 1st, hit a two-run triple in the 2nd, struck out in the 3rd, struck out in the 5th, singled in the 7th, doubled in the 8th, hit an RBI double in the 8th and walked in the 9th.
So far this year in 79 games Pie is hitting .323 with 11 home runs, 74 RBIs and 83 runs scored.

Schwellenbach Goes on Rampage Against Astros

No matter what the Houston (AZL) Astros threw at him today, Spencer Schwellenbach hit it. He easily handled Astros pitching, going 5 for 6 and helping the Angels to a 29-10 triumph at Joker Marchant Stadium.
"The way I was swinging today, I think I could have closed my eyes and hit the ball," he told BNN reporters in the postgame interview.
Told of Schwellenbach's quip, Astros skipper Mark Grudzielanek said he "would take him up on that next time."
Spencer Schwellenbach singled in the 2nd, doubled in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, doubled in the 6th, struck out in the 7th, walked in a run in the 8th and singled in the 9th.
Thus far this season, Schwellenbach has tossed 24 innings in 5 starts, fanned 31 batters, walked 11 and put up a 2.62 ERA with 1 win and 1 loss.
