Win Streak Now at 11 for Twins
|
The Minnesota Twins beat the Cleveland Indians, 4-3, in part because of left fielder Bobby Higginson. He was 2 for 4 with a home run, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3. Jesus Hernandez earned the win to go to 13-9. He allowed 3 runs on 4 hits, with 2 walks and 1 strikeout in 6.1 innings of work. Minnesota, now 101-55, has won 11 straight games.
Higginson contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Minnesota in the bottom of the fourth. With his team trailing 2-0, Higginson took a fastball from Al Leiter and stroked the home run to left. His 20th home run of the season allowed the Twins to leap in front, 3-2.
"Winning never gets old," said Twins manager Bill Benson.
