Chicago Nets 4-3 Win Versus Twins
|
The Chicago White Sox weathered a fine game by Minnesota second baseman Marcus Giles to upend the Twins, 4-3, at Comiskey Park 1969. Giles went 3-3 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Chicago is third in the American League Central Division with a record of 67-91.
The White Sox got a big at-bat from center fielder Carlos Villalobos. For the game, Villalobos went 1 for 3 with a double. In the bottom of the sixth, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 32nd double of the season gave Chicago a 3-2 lead.
"Not to put too fine a point on it," said Villalobos, "but we really needed that win."
