Twins Find a Way to Win
|
Boston designated hitter John Vander Wal was sensational. He was 3-5 with a home run and a double, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once, but it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Minnesota beat the Red Sox, 9-8. Minnesota reliever Jesus Hernandez picked up the win, raising his record to 2-1. Doug Drabek was tagged with the loss. The loss lowers the Boston record to 9-7.
Minnesota relied on the hitting of Bobby Higginson to pick up the win. The left fielder clubbed a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Twins on top, 8-7. For the game, Higginson had 1 home run and 1 single in 6 at-bats.
"We didn't go down without a fight," said Boston manager Geno Boston.
