Orioles Go Down to Defeat, 7-4
|
The New York Yankees defeated the Baltimore Orioles by the score of 7-4, with the biggest share of the credit going to third baseman Carlos Guillen. Guillen was 2-3 with 2 singles and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for the Yankees on the day. Pablo Chavira collected save number 5. New York is off to a hot start at 6-3.
Bobby Abreu, who led the AL in doubles with 54 last year, had a timely hit in the bottom of the fifth inning. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, the New York designated hitter hit a run-scoring single. That put the Yankees in front, 4-3.
"I keep on showing up every day and trying to put up good at-bats and find good pitches to hit," said Guillen.
