Mariners, Royals Play 10 to Settle Game 2, Seattle Now Leads Series 2-0
|
With designated hitter Joe Dillon leading the charge, the Seattle Mariners got past the Kansas City Royals, 9-6, in extra innings in Game 2 of the League Championship Series. Dillon went 3 for 4 with 3 singles. He scored 2 times at Royals Stadium 1973 as Seattle managed to take a 2-0 lead in the best-of-7 series.
Seattle used the clutch hitting of Chipper Jones to capture the win. The shortstop drilled a run-scoring double in the top of the tenth inning to give the Mariners the lead, 7-6. For the game, Jones had 1 single and 1 double in 4 at-bats.
"It feels good to get this one," Jones told the Seattle Times.
Game 3 is scheduled for Monday at Kingdome 1977 in Seattle.
