The Colorado Rockies overcame a good performance by Philadelphia center fielder Richard Hidalgo to knock off Philadelphia, 8-7, at Coors Field. Hidalgo went 3 for 5 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Justin Thompson snagged the win in relief. He goes to 1-0 on the season. Carl Hamilton suffered the loss. Colorado now sports a record of 40-36.

The game was decided with no one out in the bottom of the ninth. With Colorado trailing 7-6, Tony Tarasco hit a cutter from Carl Hamilton to center for a 2-run single. Just like that, the Rockies had a walk-off win.

"This place went bonkers at the end," Tarasco said.
