White Sox Drop Yankees, 6-5
|
Chicago beat New York at Yankee Stadium 1976, eking out a 6-5 win in 10 innings. The win was due in large part to right fielder Eric Valent. He went 2 for 3 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Frankie Rodriguez got credit for the win, improving to 2-0. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.2 innings. The save went to Matthew Aminoff, his 6th this season.
Chicago used the timely hitting of Roberto Vaz to seize the win. The right fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the White Sox on top, 6-5. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
Vaz said afterward that he was glad to contribute to the win.
At 19-20, the White Sox are currently 4th in the American League Central Division.
