The Pittsburgh Pirates overcame a pretty good performance by Colorado first baseman T.R. Lewis, beating the Rockies, 9-8, at Coors Field. Lewis was 2-5 with a home run, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 4. Turk Wendell got the save, his 2nd in 3 chances. Pittsburgh has now won 4 games in a row.

Had Chuck Knoblauch not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 3rd, Knoblauch hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 9-8, in favor of the Pirates.

"This kind of win will certainly make our fans happy," Knoblauch told the Pittsburgh Daily News.
