Devil Rays Lose 5-3 Decision to Philadelphia
|
Phillies shortstop Jeff Blauser left his mark on his team's 5-3 win over the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. Blauser, who finished 5th in the NL in hits with 195 in 1991, was 3 for 3 with 3 singles and a walk. He drove in 4 runs for Philadelphia in the contest. Philadelphia, at 40-17, is cruising.
With Philadelphia leading 2-0 in the bottom of the sixth, Blauser hit a 2-run single off Tampa Bay hurler Eddie Soto. It was the 35th hit of the season for Blauser and put his team ahead, 4-0.
"The team always comes first," Blauser told a reporter while responding to autograph requests. "Our fans like to come out to see a win, so I'm happy to do what I can to give them that."
