Rangers Prevail, 4-3, Over Minnesota
|
The Texas Rangers stopped the Minnesota Twins, 4-3, at Arlington Stadium 1979. The Rangers got a big game from Moises Alou, who went 2 for 4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Moises Rangel converted his 13th save in 19 tries. The win gives Texas a season record of 73-69.
Had Al L Martin not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Martin hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Rangers.
"We came out on the wrong end of this one," said Minnesota skipper Bill Benson.
