Jones Socks It to Oklahoma City 3 Times
Wednesday, May 23rd , 2001
It was a day for the record books for Evansville Triplets center fielder Jacque Jones, who walloped three out of Bosse Field against the 89ers. However, not even a three-homer game could prevent the 89ers from getting the 10-9 victory.
"We threw some good pitches and they hit 'em, and we made some bad pitches and they hit 'em. That's a good strategy for losing ballgames," Evansville skipper joked after the loss.
Jones still had a few opportunities to celebrate along the way. He was 4-for-5 for the day, batting in 6 runs and scoring 3 times.
"I never, ever thought I would hit three home runs," Jones said. "I hit three home runs once when I was 12 in Little League and I thought that was going to be the last time."
Jacque Jones hit a solo-shot off Eric Boardman in the 1st, hit a three-run home run off Eric Boardman in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Chris Booker in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 6th and grounded out in the 9th.
In 2001 Jones has hit at a .318 clip with 48 hits, 10 home runs, 29 RBIs and has scored 24 times.
