Paul Scorches Pilots for 3 HR Friday, August 20th , 1999 Fans seated in the bleacher section at Riverview Stadium were taking cover all day long as Josh Paul zeroed in on them, rattling three long blasts off the seats in a display of Herculean power. The big game from the Wisconsin Rapids catcher helped the Timber Rattlers take the victory, 12-7, over the Clinton Pilots. "I told myself not to press on the last one," he told reporters in the postgame press conference. "I knew I couldn't force it -- it has to be a nice easy swing." For the game, he collected 3 hits in 4 at-bats, drove in 6 and scored 4 runs. Josh Paul hit a two-run home run off Fernando Gomez in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Fernando Gomez in the 3rd, struck out in the 5th, walked in the 7th and hit a three-run home run off Rich Grife in the 8th. So far this season, Paul is hitting .292 with 10 home runs, 43 RBIs and 53 runs scored. He has 89 hits in 305 at-bats and a .373 OBP. |
